OFFICERS SEIZE DRUGS AND ONE GUN LAST NIGHT
(8/3/2006) NEW HAVEN – A New Haven man was arrested last night in the area of Howard Avenue and Sixth Street after members of the Street Interdiction Unit observed a motor vehicle violation on Greenwich Avenue.
Dwayne Fyne, 30, of 19 Westwood Road, was arrested after failing to stop at a stop sign on Greenwich Avenue. Officers observed Fyne reaching into his center console as they approached his vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed 30 packets of marijuana with a street value of $600 and four packets of crack cocaine valued at $80. Dwayne was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and failure to obey a stop sign. Also seized was $1327 in cash.
In another incident, Jesse Goodwin, 25, of 183 Franklin Street, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, interfering with police, burglary in the third degree, trespass in the third degree, operating under suspension and failure to wear seat belt. Police on patrol noticed Goodwin driving on Bassett Street without a seat belt. Officers stopped the vehicle on Newhall Street and Goodwin ran from police. A foot chase ensued through the rear yards on Shepard Street. Goodwin pointed a black handgun at an officer and then threw it under a car. Officers lost him around 17 Shepard Street and the Connecticut State Police responded with a tracking dog. He was found in the basement of 17-19 Shepard Street and was taken into custody. Hewas trasported to 20 York Street for treatment and then to One Union Avenue for processing.
